Just 10 years ago, the term digital marketing did not even exist! Today, with the growth of the internet, digital marketing is slowly taking over traditional marketing. There are multiple reasons this has happened, and it includes (1) Being able to reach target audiences in real time and more easily and; (2) Being more affordable.
- With data being collected so readily on sites such as Google and Facebook, businesses have been able to reach their target audiences with suitable marketing messages a lot more efficiently. Depending on industry and purpose, some of the fields that digital marketers use frequently include gender, age, interest and occupation.
- A simple email direct message (EDM) or social media campaign can allow businesses to spread their marketing messages at a fraction of what a television and print advertisement would cost and without busting the bank!
With this development, career opportunities in digital marketing have expanded exponentially with roles such as social media manager or digital marketing strategists easily falling into the top 10 in-demand jobs of most countries, especially in Asia. That said, given how recent digital marketing has evolved, most of the population above the age of 30 have not had any proper education in the field. And so, comes to the next question: “If I missed out on learning about digital marketing in school, how can I learn more about it and keep myself updated on the latest developments and how can I become a digital marketing leader today?”
Getting Global Certification & Knowledge
UpGrad has collaborated with the University of Cambridge Judge Business School to offer the Executive Program in Strategic Digital Marketing which covers all the required areas for individuals to learn about digital marketing and keep themselves up-to-date with the latest trends.
While the curriculum focuses on the strategic aspects of digital marketing, it also teaches the hands-on usage of key tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Ad Manager. The program has been carefully curated in a way that it is suitable for both individuals with and without any prior marketing.
For the first two modules, students will learn about marketing concepts such as Customer Segmentation and Positioning. For the next three modules, students will learn about key marketing channels such as Search Engine Marketing and Optimization (SEM and SEO), Social Media Marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin etc.) and Display, App and Email Marketing. To finish off the program, students will gather all the knowledge they have learned in prior modules and put them to use to learn about Agency Management, Budget and Channel Mix Optimization and ROI Metrics.
In addition to being able to equip themselves with the necessary digital marketing knowledge, students will be educated by professors at one of the prestigious universities in the world! To make an enriching industry relevant program, UpGrad has also collaborated with industry practitioners from Facebook, HCL, ANZ, Pfizer, etc. to contribute to the program. These industry practitioners enhance the program by providing global examples and case studies across multiple industries.
To top it all up, at the end of the program, students will receive a globally recognized certificate jointly offered by Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education and UpGrad.
“Global Content, Local Context”, “Action Based Learning Experience” and “Tangible Career Outcomes” are the three aspects at the core of the learning experience in this program.
UpGrad is starting the sixth batch from December 2018 and we are excited to be a part of the enriching learning experience of the digital leaders across the globe.
