IELTS is mandatory for candidates preparing to study or work in a country where English is the primary language. The test evaluates your English proficiency on the grounds of listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

The writing test is considered the trickiest part and can prove critical in determining your final band score. An ideal essay would address all aspects of the topic and be comprehensible. Take a keen look at the following essays and understand the difference between high-scoring and low-scoring essays.

How does Climate Change Impact the Largest Species of Penguins in Antarctica?

Found along the coasts of the chilly Antarctic tundra, emperor penguins are one of two species native to the continent. Standing at an impressive four feet tall and weighing up to a hundred pounds, these birds take the crown for the largest species of penguin in the world. However, the emperor penguin population is increasingly threatened by climate change.

It would be foolish to deny the massive role humans played in causing the climate crisis. The accepted modern lifestyle demands a colossal carbon footprint that directly and adversely affects the environment. While we might be trying to become more conscious of our choices, it does not help that we have been neglecting climate change for decades.

Since the times of the industrial revolution, carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions have been steadily increasing year on year. Melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and coastal erosion are consequences of a man-made disaster that has left the penguins greatly affected.

Emperor penguins are especially vulnerable because they require specific ice conditions to survive. They are dependent on the sea for feeding, breeding, and molting. The ice sheets protect them from predators and provide adequate molting space. Moreover, it takes around four months for baby penguins to lose their down feathers and develop the ability to swim. This means that when the ice sheets melt prematurely, these chicks fall into the water and succumb to drowning. Additionally, adult penguins become more susceptible to marine predators.

Given that the Antarctic glaciers are melting at an alarming rate, the Emperor Penguin species are on the verge of extinction. But there is still a chance to save these majestic birds if global policymakers take active measures to curb climate change. We must also take individual responsibility because every action counts in pressing times like these.

How does Climate Change Impact the Largest Species of Penguins in Antarctica?

Emperor penguins are the largest species of penguins in the world. They are around four feet tall and can weigh up to a hundred pounds. They remain primarily flightless but are known to be great divers. But today, their population is at an all-time low because of climate change.

The emission of greenhouse gases by our homes and factories raises the global temperature. This warming causes the ice sheets and glaciers in the polar regions to melt, endangering all species that find a home in these regions. Humans fail to empathize with this loss as most have a limited vision to evaluate the repercussions of this decline.

We must understand that emperor penguins depend on the ice sheets to remain stable in the winters. It is their breeding ground, and the ice protects the new chicks until they can learn to swim. However, if the winter heat melts the ice before time, it leaves both the chicks and adult penguins vulnerable to predators and drowning.

Hence, it is high time for humanity to shoulder the responsibility of fixing their mistakes. We must educate ourselves and the people around us about the climatic emergency and take active measures to go green. In addition, world leaders and environmental activists should work together to reduce emissions and protect all living species in immediate danger. After all, we all share one planet. So, let us try our best to protect emperor penguins and other endangered species.
