University of Manchester Undergraduate Scholarships

There are 100+ merit-based University of Manchester scholarships for undergraduate applicants from India worth £21,000. The Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships for South Asia offer an award of £7,000 for the first year of the course, with another £7,000 in the second and third year. The initial scholarship decision is based on academic merit and responses to the questions in the application form. However, the student must secure an average of 60% every year to receive the full scholarship amount. Scholarships will be disbursed as discounts on tuition fees. 

The eligibility requirements are the following: 

• Applicants should hold the following qualifications
• IB Diploma 
• Advanced Placement (AP)
• Indian Standard XII (ISC, CBSE, West Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu boards only)
• A Levels 
• They should also be permanent Indian residents. 
• Self-funded candidates are only eligible. 
• Architecture, dentistry, and medicine applicants are not eligible.
• If students have not obtained their final scores, they can still apply for the scholarship. Their academic merit will be evaluated based on their last examination scores. 

Note: Those who have completed studies at higher institutions in the UK are not eligible. 

Students need to submit an online application by April 14, 2024. 

University of Manchester Postgraduate Scholarships

The University of Manchester offers more than 100 post-graduate scholarships to outstanding Indian students. The value of these scholarships is £8,000 in the form of a discount on tuition fees. Students will be selected based on academic performance and the responses given in the application form. 

Some of the key eligibility criteria include the following: 

• Applicants must have a domicile in India.
• Applicants should be self-funded and not sponsored by external parties. 
• Those applying for Master of Architecture (MArch), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), Architecture and Urbanism (MA), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Clinical Medicine, and Dentistry courses are not eligible for the awards. 
• Those pursuing distance learning or blended programs are not eligible. 

Students need to submit an online application for the scholarship before April 26, 2024. 

University of Manchester External Scholarships

Besides the above-mentioned scholarships, the Indian government also sponsors several external scholarships for students from specific states. Some of these include the following: 

• Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence: This scholarship is provided to excellent students from Rajasthan who wish to pursue PG/UG courses at the top 150 QS-ranked institutions. This scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, and bench fees. A one-time payment will also be given. 
• Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students from Jharkhand who belong to the tribal and minority communities and wish to pursue a Master’s or MPhil in the UK. During the selection process, the first priority is given to applicants who have offer letters from selected institutions in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Moreover, second priority is given to candidates who have successfully cleared IELTS/TOEFL/GRE. The scholarship covers full tuition fees and living costs. 
• Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship: This scholarship offers financial assistance to economically deprived students from Maharashtra who wish to pursue diploma, degree, or postgraduate programs through the CAP (centralized admission process) at universities in the UK. The scholarship covers 50% of tuition fees and 50% of exam fees. 
• National Overseas Scholarship Scheme- The scheme offers financial assistance to selected candidates from scheduled castes and tribes to pursue their PhD/master's programs at UK universities. The total annual family income of applicants should not cross Rs. 8 lakh. The benefits include full tuition fee coverage, a maintenance allowance (annual), contingency allowance, visa fees, medical insurance premium, incidental journey allowance, equipment allowance, and air travel. 

Apart from these, students can also look out for various subject-specific scholarships, such as Engineering the Future Scholarships. This provides full-tuition fee discounts of around £36,500 to those selected for master’s courses at the university’s Faculty of Science and Engineering. Similarly, the Manchester Humanities International Excellence Scholarship supports students starting master’s courses at the university’s Faculty of Humanities. Selected students will receive a tuition fee discount.
