The average salary of back end developers in the US falls between $123,000 and $ 164,000 depending on job location, skills, experience, and company. The location offering its back end developers the highest pay is South Florida Bay Area at $164,000, followed by New York at $150,665, and Seattle at $147,222.

Chicago is at the bottom of this pile with $123,027. South Florida Bay Area is also on the top of the list that features the number of companies hiring back end developers. SF Bay Area has 612 companies looking for back end developers. New York (368) and Boston (144) complete the top three. 

Let us now look at how things are in the UK. Back end developers earn in the range of 35,500 pounds to 80,000 pounds. The factors that affect your salary as a back end developer are the same as above. London is at the top spot when it comes to the location where back end developers earn the highest salary.

The figure stands at 72,720 pounds. Other locations in the UK that offer a decent enough salary are South East of England (51,510 pounds), Midlands (44,440 pounds), and North of England (43,430 pounds) respectively. London is again at the top of the charts with 405 companies looking to hire back end developers. London is a popular tech location, as most tech companies are located here. The capital is thus, the technological hub of the UK.

Let us begin with the average base salary of a back end developer in India – 7,92,000 per annum. The base average pay of a back end developer can up to a maximum of 1,733,000 per annum depending on different factors.

On the other hand, if you don’t have the right experience or are placed in a city that doesn’t pay its back end developer well enough, you could even make as low as 2,33,000 per annum. In addition to your skills and experience, there are other factors as well that play an important role in determining your salary.

Your job location is a very important factor. A city that has offices of several tech companies is likely to have more job opportunities and offer back end developers more salary than other cities. This is the reason why you will see the likes of New Delhi and Bangalore doing well in this segment. Also, figures of New Delhi also feature salaries that are paid to back end developers in Gurgaon, which is a technological hub in its own right. That’s why you will see the average salaries paid in New Delhi are higher than the national average.

The average salary of a back end developer in New Delhi is around 8,19,000 per annum. The maximum that you can expect to earn in the national capital is around 2,100,000 per annum. If you are in Mumbai, you will be paid around 7,21,000 per annum, which is lower than the national average.

However, if you have the right experience and skills, you can earn up to 1,200,000 per annum. As we told you, Bangalore pays its back end, developers, more salary than the national average – 8,72,000 per year. This can go up to 2,100,000 for the right candidates. Hyderabad, again, offers a salary that is lower than the national average – 7,05,000 per annum. The highest salary you can earn in Hyderabad is around 8,44,000 per annum.

This figure can rise rapidly as you move ahead in your career. A professional with 1-4 years of experience earn around 4% more than the base average. And this percentage goes up as you gain more experience in the field.
