Money control reported that according to a market analysis carried out by a London-based blockchain consulting firm Dappros, India is home to the second most number of blockchain developers in the world with nearly 19,627 developers, which is second only to the United States, which has 44,979 blockchain developers as of October 24, 2018. It also means India has an edge over other countries when it comes to developing applications based on Blockchain or improving applications through the technology.

According to the Times of India, a 29-year-old Kannan Chandrasekhran, who is a data scientist at Microsoft and a student of Master’s in Data Science from IIT Hyderabad, has been working on an electronic bot which can not only read and understand data but also can reply to the queries that are being asked. This self-learning, the human-interacting bot has made him bag the Samsung innovation award and cash prize worth of 1.5lakhs. Kannan named the bot – Irene after a movie character.

According to a report by Businessinsider, India has a serious shortage of Data Scientist even if Big Data and Data Science is one of the burning sectors in the IT world. According to the professional network LinkedIn, India reportedly has less than 10% of data scientists available globally. Which also means that India may be challenged to effectively serve the growing data servicing market. The number is likely to be a big worry for India’s competitive IT services companies who are training staff in data science.
