How to Register for an SAT Exam Date? 

Once you have checked the available SAT exam dates, registration is done online through your College Board account. 

College Board says the registration itself usually takes around 30 minutes, and you can save it and come back later if you don’t finish in one go.  

Here’s how you can register for the SAT exam: 

1. Check the test centers first: Look at the centers available near you. It’s better to keep a couple of options in mind since some locations may already be full for your chosen date.  
2. Choose your SAT date: Pick one of the upcoming test dates and make sure the registration deadline hasn’t passed.  
3. Sign in to College Board: Use your own College Board account. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to create it before registering.  
4. Fill in your details: Add the required personal information, choose your test date and center, and upload a photo that meets College Board’s requirements.  
5. Review and pay: Check everything once, then complete the payment to finish your registration.  

College Board asks students to register themselves, so a parent or counselor can’t complete the registration on the student’s behalf.  

One more thing, if you need to borrow a testing device from College Board, don’t wait for the regular registration deadline. The device request needs to be made at least 30 days before the SAT test date.

SAT Score Release Dates 2026 – 2027 

College Board gives a separate score release date for every SAT Weekend test. For the remaining 2026 exams, those dates are already out. 

The September, October, November, and December scores are all scheduled to come 13 days after the test.

How to Change or Cancel Your SAT Exam Date? 

Sometimes the date you booked just doesn’t work anymore. Maybe your plans changed, maybe the center is too far, or maybe you simply want to take the SAT later.  

College Board does let you make changes, but the process depends on what exactly you want to change. 

How to Change Your SAT Exam Date? 

If you want a completely different SAT date, you can’t just move the same registration over. 

You’ll need to cancel your current booking first, then register again for the new date. 

Before you cancel, check whether: 

• registration for the new SAT date is still open  
• your preferred test center still has seats  
• the new date works with your college deadlines  

Once that looks fine, you can go to My SAT in your College Board account, cancel the old booking, and register again. 

Changing only the test center is easier. You don’t need to cancel the full registration for that. The current test-center change fee is USD 34 (INR 3.2K) through December 2026. 

How to Cancel Your SAT Registration? 

You can cancel from the My SAT section of your College Board account. 

The timing matters a bit here. If you cancel earlier, the charge is lower. Leave it too late, and you’ll pay more. 

• Cancel by the regular deadline: USD 34 (INR 3.2K)  
• Cancel after the regular deadline: USD 44 (INR 4.2K), as long as you cancel by 11:59 p.m. ET on the Thursday before test day  
• Refund processing: Usually starts within 3–5 business days  
• Students with an SAT fee waiver: No cancellation fee, and the unused waiver benefit goes back to the account  

So if you already know the test date won’t work, don’t wait till the last minute. Each SAT date has its own change and cancellation deadline, and checking it once before making any decision can save you extra cost.
