GMAT Score

The GMAT score is a numerical representation calculated by aggregating your performance on the exam sections: Verbal, Quantitative, Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA), and Integrated Reasoning (IR). It is reported on a scale of 200 to 800, with separate scores for all the four sections. This vital component of B-school admission involves a major contribution of the Verbal and Quantitative sections, with higher weightage on the Quant section.

Typically, the average GMAT score falls within the range of 550-600. This figure can fluctuate depending on the level of competition associated with the specific business school or program to which you are seeking admission. It's worth emphasizing that each business school might maintain distinct criteria regarding the minimum acceptable GMAT score, making it advisable to verify the school's requirements before initiating your application. However, the better your GMAT score, your chances of admission increase.

GMAT Score Calculation

Your collective performance in the GMAT Quantitative and GMAT Verbal sections determines your overall GMAT score, ranging between 200 and 800. The GMAT Quantitative and GMAT Verbal sections are individually scored on a scale of 6 to 51. 

After completing the exam, you have the option to obtain an unofficial score report that encompasses the scores of the Quantitative and Verbal sections. Furthermore, to obtain a 700 GMAT score, you should be able to score a minimum of 37 in either of the two sections and 51 in the other section. For instance, if you obtained 42 in the Verbal section and 44 in the Quantitative section, your overall GMAT score becomes 710.
