The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accredits the West Texas A & M University for awarding masters, baccalaureate and doctorate degrees. There are several other agencies that have accredited WTAMU universities and it also holds membership in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, American Council on Education, and others. The total number of student enrolment at WTAMU was 9581 as of Fall 2021 and 9275 as of Fall 2022. There are 350 full-time faculty members and 466 full-time staff members at WTAMU. 

University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses

The main campus of West Texas A & M University is located in Canyon, Texas and it is the university’s northernmost campus. The campus has a suburban setting and spreads over 135 acres. It is one of the safest campuses in the country. There are many research laboratories and facilities such as Education and Athletic Training Room Laboratory, Beef Carcass Research Centre, Buffalo Technology Group, Centre for Learning Disability, Computer Information System Testing lab are worth mentioning.

The Graduate Schools include programs like MBA, MA, MED, MM, MFA, MPA, MS, BBA, MSN, Ph.D and Ed.D. The admissions at West Texas A & M University is less selective with an acceptance rate of 97% as of Fall 2021. Before, this university was selective with an acceptance rate of 58.3% in 2020. 

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Freshman admission

• Applicants seeking freshman admission must have a class rank among the top 30% in high school. 
• The applicant must score a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 
• The applicant must have an ACT composite score of 21 and an SAT composite score of 1060. 

Graduate admission

• Candidates seeking admission to the graduate school must secure an overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.
