Anthropic Launches Claude Sonnet 5.5

Anthropic has launched Claude Sonnet 5.5, positioning it as a faster and more efficient model for everyday professional and agentic work.

The model is designed for tasks such as software development, debugging, document creation, presentations, spreadsheets and interface design. Anthropic says Sonnet 5.5 generates output more than 30% faster than Sonnet 5.

The company is also focusing on the cost of completing an entire task, rather than simply reducing its per-token price.

Sonnet 5.5 retains the same standard API price as Sonnet 5: $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. However, Anthropic says the new model typically uses fewer tokens and tool calls, resulting in up to 30% lower cost per task in its testing.
