Sub-types of AI

Type-I AI contains three subtypes, Narrow AI, General AI, and Super AI.

  • Artificial Narrow Intelligence, also known as applied AI, is a type of AI that focuses on a single task or a narrow range of functions. It is not as intelligent as General AI and cannot learn or improve itself.
  • Artificial General Intelligence, also known as full AI, is a type of AI that can learn and improve itself. It is more intelligent than Narrow AI and can handle more complex tasks.

Likewise, Type-II AI contains reactive machines, limited memory, theory of mind, and self-awareness as subtypes.

  • Reactive machines are the simplest type of AI. They are based on pre-programmed rules and cannot learn or improve themselves.
  • Limited memory is an AI that can remember past experiences and use them to make decisions in the present.
  • The theory of mind is an AI that can understand human emotions and intentions.
  • Self-awareness is a type of AI that is aware of its existence and can act accordingly.
