The median salary stood at ₹19.6 LPA, while the average salary is ₹22 LPA, with 44 international offers made. Over 80% of B.Tech/Dual Degree and 75% master's students were placed.

Placement Support

To enhance student employability, IIT Madras has established the Career Pathway Centre (CPC), which integrates the Career Development Cell (CDC), internship office, and Entrepreneurship Cell. Along with structured placement support, CPC conducts targeted workshops for résumé writing, interview preparation, and soft-skills training—ensuring students are well-equipped for the demands of industry.

  1. Career Development Cell: The CDC operates under the CPC and conducts specialised training sessions-including mock interviews, group discussions, and résumé-building workshops—to polish student communication and professional readiness. 
  2. Resume & Soft Skill Training

CDC’s preparation modules include:

  • Resume-building sessions and maintenance of resume archives for recruiter access.
  • Mock interviews, group discussion simulations, and skill workshops on communication, leadership, and presentation.
  • Coordination with the Entrepreneurship Cell to nurture start-up readiness and career alternative pathways.
