Admissions for the July 2025 session are now open for over 200 programs. IGNOU remains India’s largest open university, holding UGC-DEB approval.

IGNOU receives recognition from the UGC-DEB and the AICTE. It is a committed institution, but with opportunities for improving reach and accessibility through blended programs.

IGNOU conducts admissions in two cycles, i.e, January and July. Students can apply online via the Samarth portal for fresh admissions and re-registration.

IGNOU also conducts term-end exams (TEE) in June and December.

IGNOU offers a robust network of academic and non-academic support systems, specially designed to guide distance and online learners throughout their educational journey. The services aim to improve learning outcomes, boost career development and promote overall well being of students from various backgrounds.

1. Regional And Learner Support Centres

IGNOU boasts a widespread presence across India, with over 67 regional centres and more than 1,800 learner support centres. These centres serve as crucial local hubs, facilitating student counselling, document submission, assignment collection, practical sessions, and examination coordination.

Upon admission, each student is assigned a nearby support centre.

2. Online Learning Resources

Student gets an access to the following online resources for better learning experience :

• eGyanKosh – IGNOU’s national digital repository of course materials

• IGNOU e-Content App – Mobile access to audio-video lectures, PDFs, and interactive content

• SWAYAM platform – MOOC-style delivery of many IGNOU-certified programs

3. Academic Counselling and Mentorship

Subject matter experts conduct scheduled academic counseling sessions at IGNOU, available in person or virtually. These sessions are designed to clarify course concepts, provide guidance on projects and assignments, and help students prepare for exams.

4. Career Guidance and Placement Cell

The Campus Placement Cell at IGNOU organizes various virtual job fairs and resume building workshops for better visibility to the employers. IGNOU has collaborated with companies like TCS, Capgemini and Wipro for job opportunities in many domains.

5. Study Material Delivery

Enrolled students have two options for accessing course materials: receiving printed copies by mail or downloading soft copies from eGyanKosh. These materials are regularly updated to incorporate the latest industry and academic advancements.

6. IGNOU iGRAM

Students can utilize the iGRAM portal (IGNOU Grievance Redressal and Management) to submit and monitor complaints concerning academic, logistical, or administrative issues. The portal ensures timely and transparent resolution of all grievances.

7. Mental Health and Wellness Support

For better wellbeing and higher productivity IGNOU offers:

• Counselling support via select regional centres

• Special webinars and wellness workshops

• Peer mentorship through student communities

8. Scholarships and Financial Assistance

IGNOU helps students access scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Additionally, economically disadvantaged students may be eligible for internal fee waivers and state-sponsored financial aid programs.
