Hinrich Foundation Scholarship Eligibility

• To be eligible for the Hinrich Foundation Scholarship, applicants must be citizens of Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, or Vietnam.
• A candidate should first get admission to Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU).
• A candidate should have at least seven years of work experience as a journalist or in another related profession.
• A candidate should submit a 500-word self-statement in English regarding their career objectives, academic interests, or a sample of a piece of journalism, research paper, or similar work written by the applicant in English.
• A candidate must show genuine interest in learning about international trade and making journalism their profession.
• A candidate should have a minimum TOEFL score of 79 on an internet-based test or an IELTS band score of 6.5.

Important Dates and How to Apply for Hinrich Foundation Scholarship

The application will start in November 2022, as the application for Hinrich Global Trade Leaders scholarships for the Master of Arts in International Journalism Studies program for the academic year 2022 has been closed.

• The application fee is non-refundable.
• The course must have a duration of 1 year.
• It is better to apply for this application in one sitting only, as the application will not be saved unless submitted by the applicant.

Program Details

• The application will start on June 7, 2023, and the classes will begin on September 7, 2023.
• This includes two full-tuition scholarships of about HK$150,000 each.
• The scholarship will be provided at Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong.
• Students must be admitted to the HKBU MAIJS program to be eligible for the scholarship.

Benefits 

• Selected candidates will get full financial support for their tuition fee, monthly allowance, visa, and round-trip airfares.
• In addition, selected candidates will also be offered a 12-month internship and a job after graduation.

Selection Process

• Selected candidates will be interviewed first, and the results will be published online. The result will be reflected in the application status in the online application system.
• The selected candidates will be encouraged to be part of the Hinrich Foundation Alumni Association (HFAA) so that they can find possible career opportunities, mentorship, and networking.
• Only candidates who can demonstrate a clear and detailed description of study objectives and a clear connection between their studies and a future trade-related career will be selected through a compelling cover letter. They will need to demonstrate academic excellence and strong English proficiency.
