Benefits: ₹31,000 per month, increasing to ₹35,000 after 2 years, payable for up to 4 years upon satisfactory performance.

NIT Rourkela offers a comprehensive range of academic programs across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. At the UG level, it offers B.Tech in disciplines such as CSE, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Biotechnology, and more. PG programs include M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA, and MA. Admission into NIT Rourkela is highly competitive. For B.Tech, students are admitted through JEE Main followed by JoSAA counseling. M.Tech admissions are based on GATE, MBA through CAT, M.Sc via IIT JAM, and Ph.D. through institute-level entrance tests and interviews. Being a top-tier NIT, the cutoffs are significantly high, especially for CSE and ECE. For example, the opening JEE Main rank for CSE often falls within the top 3000.
NIT Rourkela boasts a strong placement record. In the 2023–24 season, the highest package offered was ₹85 LPA, with the average CTC around ₹15.45 LPA for CSE and ₹10+ LPA across top branches. All students at NIT Rourkela are provided with on-campus hostel accommodation in one of the 11 Halls of Residence. Hostels have Wi-Fi, furnished rooms, study spaces, TV/common rooms, and mess facilities with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Hostels are well-maintained and monitored by wardens and SAC. The mess is run democratically, often allowing students to vote for menu changes and provide feedback regularly.
NIT Rourkela hosts over 7,000 students from across India, including significant representation from all states and union territories.
