IIITDM Jabalpur is different because it combines information technology with design and manufacturing, something not commonly found in other IIITs. Declared an Institute of National Importance in 2014, it provides students with an education that emphasizes creativity, innovation, and real-world application. The campus is spread across 260 acres in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, offering modern infrastructure and a unique academic culture. 

Students at IIITDM Jabalpur can choose from B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Des, M.Des, and Ph.D. programs. Undergraduate degrees usually take four years to complete, postgraduate degrees take two years, and Ph.D. programs take three to five years. The institute is well known for integrating engineering and design to make students industry-ready. 

The fee structure varies by course. For B.Tech and B.Des programs, tuition is around ₹71,750 per semester, with hostel charges of ₹11,000. M.Tech and M.Des tuition fees range from ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 per semester. There are additional charges such as medical insurance, registration, and a refundable caution deposit. Overall, the institute provides quality education at a reasonable cost compared to many private universities. 

The placement record is strong, with the highest domestic package in 2024–25 reaching ₹87.54 LPA. The average undergraduate package stood at ₹21.49 LPA, while the highest package for a postgraduate student was ₹21 LPA. Leading recruiters such as Google, Adobe, NVIDIA, and Deloitte regularly hire from the campus. Internships are also impressive, with stipends as high as ₹2.81 lakhs per month internationally. 

Admission depends on the program chosen. B.Tech students must qualify through JEE Main and JoSAA Counselling. B.Des admissions are based on UCEED, while M.Tech requires a valid GATE score and CCMT Counselling. For M.Des, CEED or GATE is accepted. Ph.D. aspirants need to qualify through GATE, NET, CEED, or a departmental interview. 

Yes, several scholarships are available. These include Gaon ki Beti Yojana, Pratibha Kiran Yojana, and Vikramaditya Yojana. Female students from rural Madhya Pradesh benefit from monthly stipends, while students from financially weaker sections are provided annual financial aid. Such scholarships make education more accessible to deserving candidates. 

The campus is lively and modern, with six hostels for men, women, and married students. Hostel fees are ₹11,000 per semester. The institute has excellent sports infrastructure including football, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts. Students also participate in cultural, technical, and sports events such as Tarang, Abhikalpan, and Gusto, making student life engaging and vibrant. 

Cutoffs vary every year based on competition. For example, in 2025, the closing rank for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering was around 14,787 in the general category through JEE Advanced. For B.Des admissions via UCEED, the closing rank in the general category was 267. Postgraduate cutoffs through GATE differ by specialization, with competitive programs like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning requiring scores above 500. 

The institute partners with more than 150 companies to provide internships. Each year, over 300 students secure internships, with some gaining international opportunities. International stipends go as high as ₹2.81 lakhs per month, while domestic stipends reach up to ₹1.5 lakhs per month. Many internships also convert into pre-placement offers. 

Student life is dynamic, with a wide range of clubs and extracurricular activities. There are cultural clubs, science and technology clubs, and sports clubs.
