What are the Admission Requirements & Eligibility? 

IIT Madras admission process, like most of the top engineering institutes, is through JEE. Candidates need to qualify for the basic minimum criteria to get into the undergraduate programs. The marks and ranks scored in the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination are the core deciding factor to get admission in the B.Tech program. The Joint Admission Committee decides the admission to a specific branch or discipline. 

Basic B.Tech Admission Requirements in IIT Madras 2025: 

• Candidates should have cleared 10+12 with a Physics, Chemistry, and Maths background as per JEE criteria. 

• Students must score a minimum of 75% in class 12 or equivalent to get admission in B.Tech at IIT Madras. 

• A candidate must score well in national-level entrance examinations, i.e., JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.

IIT Madras Course Admission offers several Master’s programs, the most important one being the M.Tech course. The M.Tech admission in IIT Madras is done by considering the marks scored in the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) examination.

M.Tech. Admission Requirements & Eligibility

1. An applicant must successfully clear the GATE examination in the relevant discipline to get IIT Madras M.Tech admission.
2. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field, like B.Tech/B.E., with at least 60 percent marks.
3. For SC/ST/PwD students, the eligibility criteria for the required Bachelor's aggregate marks are 55%.
4. The B.Tech/M.Sc. Degrees must be from UGC and AICTE-approved universities.

IIT Madras MBA Admission Requirement & Eligibility 2025

The following are the important criteria for IIT Madras Course Admission in MBA:

• A candidate should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized University.

• Qualifying marks for MBA admission are 60 percent, and for the reserved category, it is 55% marks.

• A valid Common Admission Test (CAT) score candidate is eligible to apply for an MBA.

• Final year students can apply for the MBA admission; however, the final result should be submitted by the 30th September 2025.

• Any IIT graduate with 8 or above CGPA can apply directly without CAT.
