Did you know? On December 1, 2023, Phase I of the 2023–24 placement season at IIT Guwahati began with a bang: 59 companies made a total of 164 job offers on Day One—surpassing the previous year’s 160 offers from 46 firms.

The institute saw a strong placement season in 2023-24, with 1,584 students registered for the placement and 1,124 placed across UG, PG and doctoral programs. A total of 466 companies participated in the placement.

Highlights of IIT Guwahati Placement Season 2023–24

The placement season saw an excellent number of companies' participation in the placement drive, 299 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), with the highest CTC of ₹2.05 Cr. Students secured above ₹50 LPA are 102.

Overall Compensation Details for All Programmes

The companies across all programs show placement performance. B.Tech and B. Des graduates secured top offers, while PG, MBA, MSc, and PhD programs also performed well.

The placement process helps students in preparing resumes and pre-placement talks. The placement process from IIT Guwahati is designed to create fairness amongst students, transparency with students, and equal opportunity for all eligible students.

Step-by-Step Placement Process

• Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) : Recruiters interact with students to present their company profile, roles offered, eligibility, work culture, and growth prospects.
• Resume Submission : Interested students submit their updated resumes as per the company-specific requirements and eligibility criteria.
• Online Tests : Shortlisted students appear for aptitude tests, technical tests, or coding tests conducted online or offline by the hiring companies.
• Group Discussions & Personal Interviews (GD/PI) : Candidates clearing the tests participate in GDs and interviews to assess communication skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving ability.
• Final Selection and Offer : Selected students receive formal offer letters, and the results are officially communicated by CCD to ensure a transparent process.
