IIT Guwahati Admission 2025: Dates, Courses, Eligibility, & Scholarship Information

Latest Update: IIT Guwahati will be hosting an International Conference on Micro Nano Fluidics (ICOM 2025) on 31st October- 2nd November, 2025. Starting on 1st August 2025, registration for ICOM 2025 will be opened. Early bird registration will end on 31st August 2025.

The admission process for IIT Guwahati M.Tech (via GATE), M.Des (via CEED), and B.Tech (via JEE Advanced) is highly competitive, as the institute claims to cultivate “some of India’s brightest minds” through this stringent selection process.

Admission to IIT Guwahati is done through national-level entrance exams, which include JEE- Advanced for B.Tech, UCEED for B.Des, GATE for M.Tech, and other suitable exams. Apart from this, IIT Guwahati also conducts a department-wise written test and an interview for the admission process for a PhD or Master's by Research program MS(R).

The admission for both UG and PG in IITG is based on the national entrance examination. The process might be similar, but the examination conducting bodies are different.

A Step-by-Step IIT Madras Course Admission Process: 

1. Register for relevant entrance exams-

UG: Register for JEE Main and appear for JEE Advanced.
PG (M.Tech): Register for GATE
PhD: Appear for GATE/NET/GRE/JEST or IIT Madras internal written test. 

2. Appear for the entrance test- Candidates need to appear for the test to test their knowledge and efficiency, and qualify for the exam.

3. Check eligibility and cutoff scores- Check the scorecard and cutoff scores required for admission. 

4. Apply via institute or centralized portals- Apply to your desired institute through portals like JoSAA, COAP, etc.

5. Department-level Screening /Interview (if applicable)- Appear for Departmental Screening or Interviews for some PG and PhD courses. 

6. Receive admissions offer- Selected candidates will receive a Provisional Admission Offer. 

7. Payment of Fees- To confirm your seat, make the required payment online for admission. 

8. Complete document verification- Upload the documents like marksheets, valid ID cards, and other necessary documents, and complete the physical verification. 

9. Participate in the Orientation- Students need to participate in the Orientation Program for successful enrollment in the program.
