Who would have thought that a casual visit to a trendy but uniquely designed cafe on a hot summer afternoon with a group of friends would ignite a spark of passion for design within me and bring me to the prestigious UCL for higher learning? I cannot deny though that I was always intrigued by designs and spaces of all kinds ever since I was a little child. It was this fascination for unique buildings and structures that caught my attention 5 years ago and pulled me into the world of Architecture studies.

It was then that I enrolled in the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) course at Delhi University in India in 2021. With an eager desire in my mind to learn more about designs, spaces, and everything construction, and a thorough zeal to learn, I completed my Bachelor’s, having gained foundational skills in Architecture and Design to get started.

To apply these skills in the real world and put my gained knowledge to use, I undertook a brief internship with “Architecture Discipline”, a leading firm in New Delhi focusing on research-based and interdisciplinary architecture. The internship allowed me to delve deeper into how buildings are designed, built, and maintained, all while gaining hands-on experience in the process.

My desire to pursue a Masters in Architecture from UCL stemmed from this desire to further deepen my understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of architecture. I also intend to make a meaningful contribution to society by designing spaces that are not just functional but also socially and environmentally responsible.

My design philosophy is rooted in the fact that good design space must also align with environmental sustainability. Rapid urbanization in my home country got me particularly interested in the amalgamation of architecture, social justice, and ecology. I strongly feel that a Master’s program in Architecture from your esteemed university will provide me with an opportunity to achieve these interests and translate them into effective design strategies for the future.

I am particularly interested in pursuing the course at UCL because I am highly impressed by the research-led design approach followed by the university. Additionally, the expertise of the faculty in domains like digital fabrication, sustainable urbanism, and adaptive reuse aligns perfectly with my on personal interests.

Going forward, my career goal is to become a licensed architect specializing in sustainable and socially responsive designs. I also intend to work in close collaboration with both local and international firms which share the same values as me. After gaining sufficient experience in the area of working with others, I eventually aim to set up my own practice focused on affordable and eco-conscious architecture practices.

To conclude, please allow me to restate my keen interest in pursuing a Master of Architecture program at UCL, with the strong belief that the critical insight, rigorous training, and creative environment that I need to advance my career prospects can only be found here. As for me, my strong educational background and practical experience, coupled with an unwavering passion for design to uplift the community level, will further help propel my desire.

I look forward to receiving an exclusive opportunity from UCL to pursue my passion, dream, and desire to contribute to the growth of society with my learnings and skills in the world of architecture. I would also like to thank you for your valuable time to peruse and consider my application for the prestigious program at your esteemed university.

Yours sincerely,
