Scholarships 

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) offers financial assistance and scholarships to meritorious and needy students. Here are some of the scholarships offered by BHU: 

  • Blind students: Blind students are offered free lunch and dinner under the Annadaan Yojna. In addition, 20 blind students receive a scholarship of INR 5,000 per annum each. 
  • Top rank holders: Students who secure first and second ranks in their respective examinations are awarded a scholarship of INR 4,000 and INR 3,000, respectively. 
  • Students from economically weak backgrounds: 100 students coming from economically weak backgrounds are granted a scholarship of INR 2,000 per annum. 
  • Pyare Lal - Prem Vati Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship worth INR 10,000 is awarded to the student enrolled in the MBA programme who tops the first-year exams. 
  • S.N. Ranade Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to the academically best students enrolled in the MBA Agri-Business programme.

1. How can I get admission into BHU after Class 12?

For undergraduate programs like BA (Hons) in Foreign Languages or Integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. courses, students must appear for CUET-UG. Admissions are managed through CUET counselling conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria and secure the required cutoff.

2. What is the minimum CUET-UG score required for BHU?

Cutoff scores vary by course and category. Popular courses like BA (Hons) in Foreign Languages and B.Sc.–M.Sc. Integrated programs generally require higher CUET-UG scores due to limited seats and high demand.

3. What is the admission process for PG programs at BHU?

PG courses such as MA, M.Sc., MCA, and MBA are offered through CUET-PG. Candidates must register for CUET-PG, qualify with a valid score, and then participate in BHU’s counselling process. CUET-UG and CUET-PG application forms are usually released by NTA between February–March 2025. For Ph.D./M.Phil. and other research programs, BHU typically opens applications around April–May 2025. 

8. Is there any interview for BHU admission?

For UG and PG programs through CUET, there is no interview—the admission is purely score-based. However, for Ph.D./M.Phil. and research programs, shortlisted candidates may be required to appear for a personal interview or viva-voce.

9. What is the eligibility for MCA admission at BHU?

For MCA, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks and must have studied Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level. Admission is based on CUET-PG performance in the MCA paper.

10. What is the eligibility for Ph.D. programs at BHU?

For Ph.D. programs, candidates must hold a relevant master's degree with at least 55% marks. Selection is usually through BHU’s entrance exam and interview.
