NIT Uttarakhand was guided by NIT Kurukshetra and started working in 2010 with 90 students. Later, with the addition of two more branches, the intake grew to 300 students by 2017-18. At present, the institute has around 595 undergraduate students, 81 postgraduate students, and 101 Ph.D. scholars. In its early years, classes were held in two buildings and a hostel inside the Government Polytechnic, Srinagar (Garhwal). Currently, the institute has a residential campus with basic facilities in temporary buildings at the same location.

Campus, Hostel & Student Life

Location: Srinagar, Uttarakhand 

The National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand, currently has 35 labs, 16 classrooms, a library, and 11 hostels that can house about 1,000 students. Medical support is provided through tie-ups with local hospitals and student medical insurance. A dispensary, managed with help from Srinagar Medical College, has a visiting doctor, nurse, and a 24-hour emergency vehicle available.
