National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur is located in Chhattisgarh. It used to be called Government Chhattisgarh Engineering College (GEC), Raipur. The Indian government made it a National Institute of Technology on December 1, 2005, and later, in May 2007, called it an Institute of National Importance. NIT Raipur has been teaching students for more than sixty years. It offers 12 different undergraduate courses and 11 postgraduate courses. It also has Ph.D. programs in 18 subjects related to science and technology.

Campus, Hostel & Student Life

The campus at NIT Raipur is well planned. It has the main institute building, six hostels, homes for staff, a bank, offices for campus maintenance, a health center, and a guest house. There is also a small train station on campus for students living nearby. The campus is quiet and away from the busy city, but it is easy to reach. It is about 5 km from the Raipur railway station and around 12 km from the airport.
