IIT Guwahati, the sixth IIT to be set up in India. It was established in 1994. The Institute began its academic programs in 1995. Today, the institute has 11 departments and 5 inter-disciplinary centres that offer courses in multiple fields like engineering, science, and humanities. It provides various courses on different levels of programs such as BTech, BDes, BSc (Hons), MTech, MDes, MSc, MBA, MA, and PhD.

The institute ranked in 7th position in the NIRF 2024 Engineering ranking. It provides commendable placements to its students, making it one of the most favourable choices for engineering.
