Delhi University was started in 1922 as a teaching and residential university by an Act of the Central Legislative Assembly. The university is known for its quality teaching, research, and social work. It began with three colleges and 750 students, but now it is one of the largest universities in India. Today, it has 16 faculties, more than 80 academic departments, around 80 colleges, and over 700,000 students. The university offers more than 500 programs in Management, Law, Sciences, Engineering, and other disciplines approved by the Academic and Executive Councils.
Some departments are recognized as Centres of Advanced Studies for their excellent teaching and research. Many departments also receive special grants from the UGC for their academic achievements. Ten departments get DRS grants, two get DSA grants, three get AISHSS grants, and three get Area Studies grants. The Departments of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension, and Women’s Studies & Development Centre also receive special UGC funding.

Delhi University (DU) provides around 500+ courses in multiple fields of study like Management, Law, Social Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, etc. Admission to each course requires specific Eligibility criteria and qualifications.
Delhi University accepts students on the basis of the CUET Scores except for some courses. The University accepts NEET scores for medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, MD, MS. Admission to programmes of B.Tech. (Computer Science and Engineering), B.Tech. (Electronics and Communication Engineering), and B.Tech. (Electrical Engineering) are done on the basis of All India Common Rank List of Joint Entrance Examination (Main). Admission to Undergraduate Law Courses is Based on CLAT Scores.

Delhi University’s North Campus is home to its three founding colleges and now has 13 main colleges focused on Arts, Science, Law, and Management. These include Hindu College, Hansraj College, St. Stephen’s, Miranda House, Kirori Mal, Ramjas, SRCC, and others. The campus also has institutes like the Cluster Innovation Centre, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi School of Journalism, and ACBR, with extended colleges in nearby areas like Ashok Vihar, Pitampura, and Rajouri Garden.
Delhi University’s South Campus was set up in 1973 to serve students in South Delhi and shifted to its present location near Dhaula Kuan in 1984. Spread over 69 acres, it houses departments in Arts, Inter-disciplinary and Applied Sciences, and the S.P. Jain Centre for Management Studies.
