Master of Speech Pathology at University of Technology Sydney (UTS)

The Master of Physiotherapy is a two-year, graduate-entry degree leading to eligibility for registration as a physiotherapist in Australia. Innovative and practice-based in approach, the course's core areas of study include musculoskeletal, sport rehabilitation, neurological, orthopaedic and cardiorespiratory physiotherapy across the lifespan. In addition to core areas of physiotherapy, students have the opportunity to learn about evidence-based and professional practice, interprofessional teamwork and leadership, and undertake a research project. Advanced subjects include treatment of complex patients, health promotion and community rehabilitation, telehealth and quality assurance. All students develop a professional portfolio designed to reflect professional competencies. Developed by experienced physiotherapy academics, the course's subject matter is delivered in an integrated, student-focused manner, making use of cutting-edge technologies. This course has been developed in consultation with a working party of experienced physiotherapy clinicians in hospitals and private practice. The discipline has strong links with industry, such as Tyromotion.

This course is intended for physiotherapists, or students who have completed a physiotherapy degree either at a bachelor's level or graduate-entry master's level registrable in Australia, and who wish to pursue a career in research or gain a competitive advantage in their career by completing an additional postgraduate qualification. Students gain research skills and expertise in their area of research interest, and demonstrate their outstanding academic ability and commitment to physiotherapy through the completion of the degree. This course provides students with the opportunity to work with leading national and international researchers in their area of interest, and to develop and complete an original research project which contributes to knowledge. Students gain research training and skills, as well as developing extensive knowledge and expertise in an area of research. Students are supported by a strong and vibrant research culture, both within the school and the university, and have access to other researchers, a wide variety of workshops, the university library and research facilities.
