The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Kota: From Tuition Fees to Placements

IIIT Kota offers B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering (AI & DE). Admission to these programs is based on a candidate's performance in the JEE Main entrance examination. Following the exam, seat allotment is conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process, where candidates are allocated a seat based on their rank, preferences, and seat availability. 

The total fees for the four-year B.Tech program at IIIT Kota are approximately ₹9.15 lakhs. This includes tuition, hostel, and other charges. The institute provides information on various scholarships available to eligible students. These include scholarships from the central and state governments for students from economically weaker sections, as well as schemes like the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for meritorious students. 

IIIT Kota has a strong placement record. For the 2025 batch, the highest package offered was ₹54 LPA, and the overall average package was ₹11.13 LPA. The placement rate for the batch was 71.34%. The institute's placement cell works with a wide range of companies, and top recruiters include major tech firms like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft.

While the quality of mess food can receive mixed reviews, the hostel facilities, in general, are well-maintained. 

The faculty at IIIT Kota are well-qualified and experienced, with most holding PhD degrees from prestigious institutions like the IITs and NITs. The teaching methodology emphasizes a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application. The curriculum is designed to be industry-relevant, with a focus on problem-solving and hands-on projects to prepare students for the real world. 

With the move to its new 100.37-acre permanent campus, IIIT Kota has significantly enhanced its infrastructure. The campus has modern academic blocks with air-conditioned classrooms, a library, and state-of-the-art laboratories for various departments, including a dedicated TRAI (Trusted Robotics and Artificial Intelligence) Lab for research. 

IIIT Kota encourages undergraduate students to get involved in research from their early years. The institute has dedicated research labs like the TRAI Lab where students can work on projects related to robotics and AI under the guidance of faculty members. Students can also participate in various research projects and workshops, which are often funded or supported by the institute. 

The institute promotes a healthy balance between academics and extracurricular activities.
