IIT Bhilai is located in Chhattisgarh and was established by the Ministry of Education in 2016. It is one of the newest institutes and yet gives strong competition to the top engineering institutes. The Institute was ranked 73rd by NIRF in its 2024 Engineering category.

IIT Bhilai was declared an institute of national importance under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act 2016. It provides education and research in various branches of engineering, technology, science, and the arts. The Institute offers 7 undergraduate courses, 16 Postgraduate and it also provides a PhD in its various departments. The campus of IIT Bhilai is spread over 450 acres of land.

Internships at IIT Bhilai

In summer 2025, students received over 85 internship offers from well-known companies. Some of the top recruiters included Google, NVIDIA, Warner Bros Discovery, ICICI Bank, TCS Research, Publicis Sapient, Assurant, and Bhilai Steel Plant.

BTech third-year students are available for internships during their summer break (May to July, around 10 weeks) and winter break (December, around 4 weeks). Final-year BTech students also have the option to do a 6-month internship either in their 7th semester (August to December) or 8th semester (January to June), based on what the company prefers.

Location: Bhilai, Chhattisgarh

IIT Bhilai’s permanent campus is easy to reach by different means of transport. It is located just 5 km from the Great Eastern Highway, 5.4 km from Durg Junction railway station (a major station on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai route), and 54 km from Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur.

The campus is being built in phases and is designed to be a fully self-sufficient residential campus.
