The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim is a premiere institute that provides technical education in Sikkim. It is one of ten new National Institutes of Technology started by the Government of India in 2010. NIT Sikkim has been given the status of “An Institute of National Importance.” Since August 2010, it has been working from a temporary campus in Ravangla, South Sikkim.

NIT Sikkim was established in August 2010 and has been functioning from a temporary campus at Ravangla, South Sikkim. Even with challenges like harsh weather, limited transport, and a small campus area, the institute has managed to overcome these difficulties and has been moving forward steadily in its journey towards academic excellence. 

Hostels at NIT Sikkim 

  • The institute has 10 Boys Hostel and Few Girls hostels, The first year students are kept in different hostels to prevent ragging
