IIT Dharwad's overall process is designed to give a complete experience for students from resume workshops to soft-skills training, while students from various disciplines such as Computer Science, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, went on to secure jobs in many areas like IT, R&D and core engineering. In the 2023–24 season, B.Tech students achieved a median package of ₹12 LPA, while packages were offered for top graduate roles that went up to ₹52 LPA, highlighting the placement strength of IIT Dharwad's graduates in the process.

The placement season at IIT Dharwad for the academic year 2023 - 2024 was an important milestone for students to begin their careers. The Career Development Cell at IIT Dharwad worked collaboratively with companies and students who were interviewing on campus. There were many reputable national and international companies that participated in the campus recruitment process. 

Students from all branches of study participated in the recruiting process and were interviewed and/or assessed and tested. Students were provided training and guidance in preparation for placement and interviews. The placement process is indicative of IIT Dharwad's growing reputation and commitment to assisting student success in technology, engineering, research, and other fields.

IIT Dharwad’s placement cycle unfolds across three structured phases each year, ensuring multiple opportunities for both recruiters and students.

Placements Procedure:

The Career Development Cell (CDC) at IIT Dharwad drives a systematic placement model to link students with prospective employers and facilitate an efficient and fair hiring.

1. The Career Development Cell issues the Job Notification Form and invites companies to IIT Dharwad.

2. Companies submit the Job Notification Form & students then register for the placement process and submit their resumes.

3. The Career Development Cell conducts pre-placement talks between students, CDC staff and recruiters.

4. Shortlisting occurs by way of online tests and interviews (either telephonic or in-person).

5. CDC communicates the final date of recruitment, and the companies submit their offered candidate list for placement confirmation.
