Did you know: Uttarakhand Open University is the only state open university in Uttarakhand, established in 2005 by an Act of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. 

Uttarakhand Open University (UOU), formed by the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly on 31 October 2005. It is a state-open university in Haldwani, Nainital, spread across about 101,171 sqm (25 acres) of campus area, including administrative and academic blocks, a digital library, and video labs.

UOU offers a wide range of programs, including bachelor's, master's, diploma, certificate, and PhD programs, through cutting-edge digital platforms, regional support centers, and a community radio channel. Hostel at Uttarakhand Open University

UOU does not have official on-campus hostels. Students are instead facilitated by cheap private hostels and PG stays close to their study centres in Haldwani, Dehradun, and Nainital, providing a satisfactory living condition for distant students who visit campus areas.
