Master of Arts (Arts Management) at RMIT University

This selective-entry, research-oriented honours degree is designed for capable and highly-motivated students who want hands-on involvement in research projects. As an honours student, you'll have the opportunity to engage with research groups and provide support for your projects. This program is also a pathway into higher degrees by research, such as a PhD. The first year provides a transformative learning experience, in which you will learn and explore core science concepts across physical, life, data and mathematical science disciplines and develop and strengthen key scientific and transferable skills that will underpin your future studies and careers.

This diploma is taught by practicing artists in real studio environments. All our staff are practitioners with national and international reputation in the arts. This enables them to connect you to work on projects with industry, other practicing artists, and galleries. This diploma offers both practical and theoretical subjects, which have been developed in conjunction with the arts industry. It is designed to prepare you for a career in the visual arts or other related creative fields. On completion of the first year, you can transition to the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts. This is also a one-year qualification, which allows you to further investigate your creative practice with a more specialised focus. A major focus is the production of a professional folio of work that reflects your personal creativity. The folio will display a sequential development, with emphasis on the acquisition of skills and the adaptation of those skills to the production of artworks with a sound personal philosophical base.

In the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts, you will have the opportunity to further develop your artistic practice and enhance your creative skills. Designed to build practical and highly transferrable skills across a range of industry contexts, including drawing, painting, installation, printmaking, digital media, sculpture, web design, photography, business and exhibition, this qualification will teach you to: effectively communicate to present ideas and concepts interpret visual arts assignment briefs big picture thinking work collaboratively and independently a continuous improvement mindset select appropriate mediums to create works of art work sustainably from studios and workshops utilise a range of traditional, contemporary, and emergent technologies.
