Everything you need to know about studying in Finland

Do I need GRE/GMAT or any other requirements for Finland?

GRE or GMAT scores are not required for most courses in Finland. However, some competitive programs, especially in business or technology, may ask for them.

What are the regulations for part-time work in Finland?

International students in Finland can work up to 30 hours per week during semesters. Wages vary by sector, but the average part-time pay ranges between 9 to 13 EUR/hour (₹ 810 to 1,170).

Do I need to know Finnish for part-time jobs in Finland?

Knowing basic Finnish helps when applying for part-time jobs, especially in retail, hospitality, or customer service. Some jobs may require at least A2-B1 level Finnish, but international or English-speaking roles are also available in bigger cities.

Are there any specific visa requirements for Finland?

Yes. Indian students need a residence permit to study in Finland, not just a visa. You must show your university admission letter (paid tuition deposit), proof of enough money for living expenses (around EUR 560 per month), valid health insurance, and a clear study plan.

What is the main intake period in Finland for studies?

Finland has one main intake each year for most degree programs. The Autumn 2025 intake starts its application process in January, with deadlines usually around mid-January. Apply early through the national Joint Application system. However, upGrad programs also have a January intake.
