Q. Is 5.5 bands eligible for Australia?

Australia is a nation where English is the primary language of communication. This being said educational institutions look for students who have a command of the language to maintain a good academic rapport.

It is also essential for communicating with native English speakers regularly. Hence, IELTS Scores are considered important for getting into an Australian University.

IELTS is an examination that's meant to assess the language proficiency of people who look forward to studying, working, or residing abroad.

This is the case with Australia, too. It tests four different forms of communication in a person - reading, writing, speaking, and listening. So, if you wish to have an entry pass to any English-speaking nation, brace yourself and get ready to score better at IELTS.

If studying in Australia is your dream, then you need a 6 or 6.5 band score for postgraduate studies and at least 6 for Undergraduate study. But even if you have scored less, say 5.5, don't panic; you still can apply to certain universities where they accept applications from students with a slightly lower score. Though these universities may not be very popular, there's still hope for a good academic experience.

If your overall IELTS score is 5.5, the options for choosing a course or university might be limited, but not zero.

Some pathway courses help in equipping one with the language skills necessary to understand the lectures and live in an English-speaking country.

So if you’ve scored a 5.5, say in the reading or speaking section in your last IELTS exam, you can still apply to certain universities like Southern Cross University, Academies Australasia, CQUniversity Australia, International College of Management, Sydney, RMIT, Salford College for subjects like Accounting, Business and Management, media, etc.
