Admissions

1. Are Golden Gate University Worldwide degree programs recognized by the University of Applied Management?

Golden Gate University Programs are designed and delivered as per regulations set forth by WSCUC - WASC Senior College and University Commission (The official accreditation body of HEIs in California). As an officially accredited University in the Germany, University of Applied Management, Germany will accept transfer credits from GGU for their Undergraduate degree program, namely Bachelor of Science in Software Development 210 ECTS. The same has been established and effectuated with an official agreement between the two universities.

2. Can I join this program without a TOEFL/IELTS Score and attempt TOEFL/IELTS after joining the program?

Yes, you can join this program without a TOEFL/IELTS score & upGrad will help you prepare for the Language Proficiency Test to enhance your current English proficiency to be deemed eligible for a Bachelor of Science in Software Development 210 ECTS in Germany.

3. Can we get a TOEFL/IELTS waiver, if we study through upGrad?

To study at the University of Applied Management, you will have to meet University English Proficiency Requirements. upGrad will prepare you to meet these English proficiency requirements through specific study material.

4. I have not yet received Class 12 marks, am I eligible to apply for this program?

Yes, you can apply and block your seat for the program in case you have given exams in the 2025 academic year for class 12 and have not yet received a marksheet. You can block your seat by paying INR 25,000. You need to score a minimum of 50% or above marks to be eligible for the Bachelor’s STEM Program course. In case you do not score 50%, you can request for a refund of your block payment as per the refund policy.

5. What is a conditional offer letter and how is it different from a confirmed offer letter?

Conditional offer letters will be issued to you by the University of Applied Management based on documents submitted by upGrad. These documents will be class 10th & 12th marksheets, passports. The conditional offer letter will be converted into a confirmed offer once students meet the conditions mentioned in the conditional offer letter. These conditions will be English proficiency conditions, successful completion of the course at Golden Gate University and any other condition which the University deems fit.

6. Is there a minimum qualification for this program?

For GGU:

  • Students who have completed 10 + 2 examinations, (e.g. A level, CBSE, HSC, IBDP, ISC, etc.) with 50% marks or above from the Science stream.
  • Students who are already enrolled in any graduate or undergraduate programs shall not be eligible to apply.

For University of Applied Management:

  • The applicant should successfully attain a minimum of 2.0 GPA in Year 1 of Certificate Program from GGU.
  • English Proficiency Requirements are IELTS Academic: 6.5 (Band score 6.0) or TOEFL iBT: 87 points or TOEIC Listening/Reading 785, Speaking 160, Writing 150 or Duolingo Certificate: 110 points or Cambridge CAE or CPE (grade A, B, or C) or Pearson English Test Academic (PTE-A): 59 points.

7. What are the documents needed for the application?

About the Bachelor’s STEM Program at UAM

1. How can I apply for the program?

  • Applications can be submitted online via upGrad.com.
  • Based on the confirmation of eligibility, a provisional offer letter will be issued.
  • Student needs to pay the required fees to upGrad.com
  • Once the tuition fee is received and documents have been verified, a confirmation of enrollment into this program shall be received.

2. What are the course options available for a Bachelor’s STEM Program at the University of Applied Management?

At University of Applied Management, you will have the option to pursue the following course-

  • Bachelor of Science in Software Development 210 ECTS
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Digital Engineering 210 ECTS

3. What type of learning experience should I expect?

The content will be a mix of interactive lectures from industry leaders as well as world-renowned faculty. Additionally, the program comprises live lectures or hangout sessions dedicated to solving your academic queries and reinforcing learning. Once you reach Germany, you will get face to face learning from Professors. On completion of the program, you will have the option to apply for PSW in Germany as well as get support from the University of Applied Management, Germany and Career Services to build a career in Germany.

4. Is any certification granted at the end of the program?

Post successful completion of the 1 year program, a transcript will be issued from Golden Gate University, US and a bachelor's degree in Bachelor of Science in Software Development 210 ECTS from University of Applied Management, Germany.

5. Are the University of Applied Management Courses recognized and accredited by any governing bodies?

The University of Applied Management (UAM) is accredited by FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) in 2017, a reputable European quality assurance agency.

6. How will the University of Applied Management help in finding internships and job opportunities after I complete a course?

University of Applied Management has a career development center where you will get assistance in regard to career services such as resume development, mock interviews etc. Also this career development center also organizes career fairs where company officials visit campuses and interact with the students. Outside of the centralized career development center, individual programs have their own specialized career services professionals who help students with internships and similar experiential learning opportunities.

University Partners

1. Do we get a conditional offer letter at the initial stage or after completion of the 1st year with Golden Gate University Worldwide ?

Once you enroll in the Bachelor’s STEM program (Bachelor of Science in Software Development 210 ECTS, UAM) with upGrad and provide all the required documents, upGrad will submit applications to the University partner (UAM) on your behalf. University partner (UAM) will release a conditional offer letter within one month of application submission.

2. What would be the alternate option if I could not get a conditional offer letter from one of upGrad’s partner universities?

This is a highly unlikely scenario. In case you do not get a conditional offer letter from University of Applied Management, you may apply to our other partner schools in USA, Canada or France (based on your eligibility) or continue studying online from Golden Gate University.

3. How many intakes are available at the University of Applied Management?

University of Applied Management offers two intakes for students. The first intake of the year will be March (Spring) intake & the second would be the November (Winter) intake.

Visa

1. Will upGrad help me in writing Academic and Visa SOP?

Yes, upGrad will help with your Academic and Visa SOP and will also organize training on how to write a good SOP.

2. Can we get a PSW visa if we study this program in India and then for 2.5 years at the University of Applied Management?

Germany PSW visas are available to all the students who have completed at least 1 academic year at a German University fully on-campus. As you are studying a full-time course for 2.5 years, you will be eligible to apply for up to 18 months of PSW after completing your course.

3. How much are living expenses for a year at the University of Applied Management?

Living expenses for students studying at UAM is 11,904 Euros per annum.

4. What will be the alternate pathway, if I could not get a visa from Germany after completion of the program?

As you will be studying at the Golden Gate University Worldwide program, you will be able to successfully complete the course through Golden Gate University Worldwide. In case you do not secure a Germany VISA, you may transfer to our other University partners in France, Canada or the United States, subject to your eligibility.

5. What are the part-time working rules for studying in Germany?

As an international student in Germany, you can work part time. The time permitted in accordance with the immigration is 120 full days or 240 half days in a year. Typical wage in Germany is around 10 Euros per hour.

Payment

1. What is the process of payment for this program?

Initially, you need to deposit INR 25,000 as a block amount for seat booking. 15 days before the start of course and once you have Class 12 marksheet available, you need to make a complete payment of the remaining amount. You can opt for no-cost EMI with credit facility providers if you want to pay in installments.

2. Can I pay the semester fees?

Total fees have two components -
1. University fees
2. Articulation fees.
Articulation fees need to be paid together at once. You can avail a 0% EMI option with a monthly installment and a down payment of INR 25,000 to block your seat. If you are availing a 0% credit card EMI, upGrad will not charge any processing fees or down payment for these transactions. Your bank may levy GST or other taxes on the interest component of the EMI. University fees can be paid in 2 semesters.

Refund Policy

1. Is there any deferral or refund policy for this program?

Refund Policy:
1. Student can claim a refund for the amount paid towards the Program at any time, before the Cohort Commencement Date, by visiting www.upgrad.com and submitting duly filled refund form via the "My Application" section under profile. Processing fee of INR 20,000 will be levied while processing the refund. If a Student has paid less than INR 20,000 while registering for the program, the Student shall not be eligible for any refund in such case.
2. Student shall not be eligible for any refund under any circumstances if refund request is raised post Cohort Commencement Date and Student will continue to pay the monthly EMI for loan (if applicable)* and such loan cannot be canceled. This is also applicable for those Students who could not complete their payment and could not be enrolled in the cohort opted for. However, the Student can raise a request for Pre-Program deferral as per the policy defined below for the same.
3. In case of a refund as per point 1 of this policy, the Student will be solely responsible for any cancellation of loan, including but not limited to applicable loan cancellation charges levied on the total canceled loan amount. These charges will be decided by the third-party financial institution that has granted given loan to the Student and upGrad will have no role to play in deciding the quantum of these charges.
4. Students must pay the full fee within 7 days of payment of Caution Money or Cohort Commencement Date, whichever is earlier, otherwise the admission letter will be rescinded.
5. Request for refund should be sent via email in the prescribed Refund Request Form, post completing the steps as per point 1 of this Refund Policy. The refund will be processed within 30 working days of commencement of the program after being duly approved by the upGrad Admissions Team.

Deferral Policy: (Pre- Program Commencement)
- If a Student, due to unavoidable circumstances is unable to commence with the cohort and requests for a deferral before the Cohort Commencement Date, Student will have an option to defer to another batch.
- However, the Student will be required to pay 50% of the Total Program Fee amount (inclusive of taxes) before the deferral can be approved. Till this condition is complied with, the Student will be assumed to be continuing in the same cohort.
- A Student can request for deferral only once and to either of the scheduled cohorts to start in the next 1 year from the batch start date of the initial batch the Student enrolled for.
- The Student has time till the current Cohort Commencement Date to make the payment of the 50% of the Total Program Fee, post which the deferral request will expire. Once the deferral window expires and the Student asks for a refund after the Cohort Commencement Date, the above-mentioned applicable refund policy will apply.
- The fee applicable to the deferred Student will be as per prevailing Total Program Fee for the batch Student as opted to defer to (No additional deferral fee is required to be paid).

Deferral Policy: (Post Program Commencement)
- If a Student is facing severe issues in dedicating time to the course, Student will have an option to defer to another batch.
- A Student can request for deferral only once and to either of the scheduled cohorts to start in the next 1 year from the Cohort Commencement Date of the initial batch the Student enrolled for.
- The Student will be required to pay a deferral fee of 10% of the Total Program Fee (inclusive of taxes) if any along with the differential program fees between the two cohorts.
- The deferral request will be approved once the deferral fee is paid.
- Till this condition is complied, the Student will be assumed to be continuing in the same cohort.
- The Student has 7 days (including holidays and weekends) from the date of deferral request to make the payment of the deferral fee, post which the deferral request will expire, and the Student will continue as part of the current cohort.
- If the Student completes the deferral payment, the Student’s login will be disabled, The Student will leave the deferred cohort and the Student will start learning on the new cohort from the point of the last assignment that was graded in the deferred cohort. All grades and progress till that point will be carried forward as it is to the new cohort .
- The deferral can only be requested during the batch for which the Student has enrolled is ongoing. Once the batch has been completed, deferral requests shall not be entertained. For clarification, the batch completion here shall mean the “last grace deadline” as communicated by upGrad.
