In the video above, you learnt about various dressing guidelines, which are can be summarised as follows:

 

Men

Shirt

1.      You can wear checks and fine stripes but avoid loud prints.

2.      Full sleeve formal shirts are considered formal wear. Half-sleeve must be avoided.

3.      Straight pointed collars are considered formal. Mandarin collars must be avoided.

4.      Shirts with double cuffs and cufflinks are preferred for meetings.

Trousers

1.      Wear well-fitted trousers that cover your socks.

2.      They should preferably be black, brown, navy blue, grey or beige.

3.      Your socks should match your trousers.

Blazer

1.       Wear a well-fitted blazer.

2.       A quarter inch of the sleeve of your shirt should be visible, and an inch of your collar should be visible from the top.

Women

Traditional

1.      Wear a well-fitted suit with a silk dupatta or a scarf.

2.      Palazzos, patialas and sleeveless suits are inappropriate.

3.      Deep cut necklines and gota/doris on the back are not advisable.

4.      Silk or starched cotton sarees, without heavy embroidery or borders, are advisable.

Western

1.      Women can wear skirts, suits and dresses that reach below the knee and are not body-hugging.

2.      They should preferably be black, brown, navy blue, grey, maroon or beige.

3.      You can accessorise these suits with silk scarves lightly tied around your neck.

 

Some additional guidelines that you learnt about are as follows:

  1.  Ensure that you wear clean, washed and ironed clothes that have no creases or odour.
  2. Carry all your documents and business cards in a proper bag; do not carry these items in your hands.
  3. Follow the grooming guidelines laid down and keep your hair neat and tidy for all meetings.
  4. Wear a mild perfume or deodorant to ensure that you smell fresh throughout the day.
  5. It is advisable to carry fresh mints so that you can take one after any meal before meeting customers to ensure that you have fresh breath.
